UPDATE - Mercury One has made the decision to move the auction of these rifles from this weekend's God Guns and Giving event to a later national auction which will be promoted via Mercury One and potentially on The Blaze in order to maximize bidding.

Some of you may remember earlier this year that due to the amazing generosity of my manufacturers, I built two gorgeous one-of-a-kind AR15 rifles which I donated to the Lone Survivor Foundation. The first rifle raised over $5000 for charity and the second is expected to raise even more at the November 2014 auction and event. Despite the battle scars, fitment challenges and headaches of everything which accompanies the words custom one-off AR parts in a build, I saw the good this work could do and wanted to do more.

At last year's Mercury One, God Guns and Giving charity event, I had the pleasure to meet and briefly talk with Marcus Luttrell about his Lone Survivor Foundation as well as Glenn Beck and Joe Kerry about the other efforts Mercury One is supporting. What gave me the real nudge was seeing the generosity of my good friends at Black Rain Ordnance. Black Rain generously donated and auctioned a beautiful AR15 which raised over $10K for Mercury One. It got me thinking... I wonder if I could work with my awesome manufacturers and put together a truly custom AR15 for auction.

At that time, I dropped a quick email to the 350+ manufacturers I have an editorial relationship with highlighting my ideas - support the two foundations with charity AR15s for auction. The response was amazing. A plan was solidified; a random set of donated parts organized to do something great. We started with the Lone Survivor Foundation builds and now these Military Branch rifles for Mercury One Foundation.

The net result of that email will be two, one-of-a-kind, custom AR15s that no one will ever be able to replicate for Lone Survivor and soon a set for Mercury One. These rifles represent some of the best AR15 modern sporting rifle technology available, paired with one-of-a-kind custom parts to deliver both a custom museum quality showpiece and ultimate performance AR15 for the auction winner(s) to use and shoot.

The concept for the four Mercury One Foundation rifles was to represent each of the four major military branches (sorry Coast Guard, I ran out of time) in the form of AR format rifles with the respective official branch challenge coin embedded in each receiver. Once I had acquired and supplied a challenge coin to each respective donating receiver manufacturer, the creative juices apparently started to work.

Black Rain Ordnance - Justin at Black Rain was adamant that he provide one of his .308 rifles representing the Army. Not just the receiver set, but and entire front to back one-off version of their $3000 BRO-PG13 .308 AR format rifle. I have talked with the Black Rain team on the rifle, however it was insisted that I be surprised at the event, so no pictures will be posted until the day after the event. I do know it features all the standard features of their BRO-PG13 I just reviewed plus many special additional features. Amazing generosity!

Barnes Precision Machine - Andrew Barnes very generously contributed parts and barrels to the Lone Survivor builds, however I still a little hesitant to ask him again whether he would be interested in contributing a few more parts. Andrew’s response was a bit shocking.”I am not going to provide you with parts, I am going to send you a complete rifle for Mercury One,... but it has to be the Marines version OK?” Barnes precision machine has a very close relationship with the military and especially the Marines, so he delivered probably the most durable rifle I have ever tested - his totally NP3 coated AR which on this rifle BPM even has the included an upgraded HiperFire 24G trigger coated. Every part is either NP3, NiBx, or Melonited. It is the ultimate durable AR15. Here is my review late last year of the NP3 version of this rifle, minus the Hiperfire Trigger.

Area53 Custom Build - Receiver, Handguard, and pin/control set - Charles at Area53.com provided both the lavishly custom Lone Survivor reciever sets and was very insistant that he have the opportunity to create the Air Force build. How could I say no. The resulting DPMS format .308 rifle was a build that no airman could ever pass up on. Even the buffer tube has been engraved with the airman’s creed. The details are stunning. DPMS provided a complete Bolt Carrier Group, AXTS Ambi-Charging Handle, Black Hole Weaponry a custom winged fluted barrel with integrated compensator, Timney a Skeletonized match trigger, Mission First Tactical Furniture, Battle Arms Development Selector, and Precision Reflex Gas Block. This custom Serial number AIRFORCE build, I hope will bring well over $10,000 at auction.

SanTan Tactical Custom Build - Receiver Set - Dennis at San Tan Tactical really wanted to help out with the Lone Survivor build earlier in the year, however was still working on the design for his upper, however obviously it was worth the wait. Dennis was excited to deliver the Navy themed upper and lower receiver sets and produced a stunning Bronze and Black set serialized USNAVY1. The fully ambidextrous receiver was completed with battle Arms Development Ambi-Selector switch and EPS pivot and take-down pins and AXTS Ambi-Charging Handle. Black Hole Weaponry provided a straight fluted 5.56 match barrel which I tipped with a Lantac brake. The bolt is the Sharps Reli-a-bolt designed for ultimate reliability. Geissele was nice enough to provide a flat bladed match trigger, and ALG gas block, and ALG Ultra-Lite forend. The furniture was again provided by Mission First Tactical.
